Perth Family Photographer – Sophie Hart Photography
As a Perth family photographer, I’m always asked where my favorite photo shoot locations are. Today, I’ve put together this blog post (filled with adorable photos!) to help you find the best photography location for your family! There are so many great places around Perth, so it was SO hard narrowing down the best locations, but I’ll highlight the three of my absolute favorite outdoor Perth photo shoot locations. All three of these locations are perfect for Perth families looking for beautiful, authentic, natural-looking photos in outdoor settings!
1. Perry’s Paddock
A GORGEOUS OPEN FIELD WITH TALL GRASS IN A CONVENIENT, CENTRAL LOCATION
Where is Perry’s Paddock?
Perry’s Paddock is in Woodvale, just off the Ocean Reef Road. Located just 25km from Perth CBD, it is a perfect mix between beautiful nature and urban convenience.
Why do families love Perry’s Paddock for Perth Family Photoshoots?
For so many reasons, Perry’s Paddock is one of the most popular family photoshoot locations in Nothern Perth. The park is absolutely gorgeous all year-round and the perfect spot for children to run around and explore. With many landmarks, from a beautiful vintage white house to a windmill, Perry’s Paddock is full of great photo shooting spots. Kids always love the house – especially venturing inside and looking up the chimney. It also has beautiful tall grass and lush trees all around. The white walking trails make it easy to explore. At sunset, the light perfectly filters through all the trees giving this Paddock a golden glow.
What kind of photos is Perry’s Paddock perfect for?
I love to taking photos of families cuddled up in the tall grass as well as exploring the location together. Walking photos here are always absolutely beautiful.
Where are the best spots in Perry’s Paddock?
My absolute favourite spot to use is the big fluffy tree in the middle of the paddock. In spring this tree grows the most beautiful white blossoms as well. I also love to use the tall, golden grass in front of the old brown building. The outside of the white house is great to use as a backdrop as well with the trees in the background.
What do you need to know about Perry’s Paddock?
Perry’s Paddock is pram and wheelchair friendly. It also welcomes dogs and is often full of furry friends, which is an absolute big plus for me. It’s usually busier than the other locations especially on weekends and during the school holidays. There is one dirt car park accessible by any type of car (even my little Getz), the easiest way to enter is from Ocean Reef road (route 94- accessible from Mitchell freeway north), heading west.
2. Burns Beach
A BEAUTIFUL QUIET BEACH SURROUNDED BY ROCKS AND WILDLIFE
Where is Burns Beach?
Burns Beach, located in Burns Beach, is accessible from the Ocean Parade. Opposite the Burns Beach Foreshore Park, its situated 30km from Perth CBD.
Why families love Burns Beach for Perth Family Photoshoots
Families love Burns Beach as a Perth photoshoot location for its versatility and stunning sunsets. The foreshore has so many interesting rocks to sit on, pose with, and explore. There are lots of shells for the kids (and grownups too!) to discover and show off. It also has the best view of our incredible sunsets. On a warm evening, it’s lovely to be able to get some shots in the water as well if you don’t mind getting your outfits wet! I absolutely love it when families are ready to jump in the water to get THE shot!
What type of photos is Burns Beach perfect for?
Burns Beach is amazing for sunset family photos and for walking shots next to the ocean. I love to also get shots of the little ones climbing on rocks, finding crabs, and collecting sea shells. It’s not as suitable for sitting down photos as the paddock.
Where are the best spots in Burns Beach?
Once you go down the steps, head to your left. There is a beautiful collection of rocks big enough for the family to cuddle up on. There is also a beautiful smaller rock I use for sibling shots all the time. At sunset, I get the families walking towards me from South to North along the shore. As the sun is close to setting, I position families with their backs to the water or in the water and have the sun directly behind them.
What do you need to know about Burns Beach?
Burns Beach is only accessible by steps which unfortunately makes it unsuitable for wheelchair and pram users. This beach is also not dog friendly. However, it does have a lot of parking spaces and free public toilets.

Next to the beach is a beautiful family-friendly cafe called ‘Sista’s Cafe’. They are open 7am – 3pm on weekdays. Head there for a quick snack before your sunset photoshoot starts or go for a nice warm coffee after your sunrise photo shoot.

There is also a great walking trail with an incredible view of the ocean, last time I was there I went for a morning walk along the coast and saw two dolphins!

3. My Secret Photoshoot Location – Woodbridge Riverside Park
A SERENE RIVERSIDE LOCATION WITH A PIER AND A SANDY BANK
Where is Woodbridge Riverside Park?
Woodbridge Riverside Park is in the beautiful suburb of Woodbridge located between Caversham and Midland. It’s 16km away from the CBD.
Why do families love Woodbridge Riverside Park for Perth Family Photoshoots?
I love Woodbridge Riverside as a location because it offers something unique to all of the other Perth photoshoot locations. It includes a jetty and a beautiful sandy spot by the river. The sun sets beautifully behind the river creating wonderful, golden reflections in the water.
What type of photos is Woodbridge Riverside Park perfect for?
It’s amazing for photos with a river backdrop. There is beautiful greenery and tall grass on the banks of the river as well. It’s great for snuggled up shots and standing photos on the pier.
Where are the best spots in Woodbridge Riverside Park?
My favourite spot here is the mini ‘beach’ it has these golden-red rocks that I use to sit clients and their kids on. Behind them, you can see the glowing river, trees, and setting sun. I also enjoy walking a little further through the long grass which the kids love to play in. The jetty is of course always a hit as well.
What do you need to know about Woodbridge Riverside Park?
Woodbridge Riverside Park is wheelchair and pram friendly for most of the areas. There is also two large carparks.

My favourite hidden feature of this photoshoot location is their incredible fully enclosed playground with a great coffee van. This is an excellent blog post showing all the great features of this playspace.
